Do you want to take part in [approach at sea] in the future?
This summer the boat has sailed to meet people who are interested to take part in the project in next summer, and to support it.
We have now finished the sailing part of the pilot project, during the 23.t of July to 10.th of August, visiting Gdansk (Poland), Klaipeda (Lithuania), Liepaja, Ventspils, Riga (Latvia) and Ruhnu (Estonia).
In some of the places we had open seminar and information meetings, in others we had meetings with some contacts to help us find artists and more contacts. We have found some interested and interesting artists, but are still open to applications. To take part means to sail with the boat next summer during about 2-3 weeks, on the Baltic Sea, going from country to country in a part of the Baltic which is maybe not your own waters. Also Sweden, Finland, and possibly Germany and Denmark will be visited. See more information below.
To take part in the project as crew onboard in next years sailing we want you to:
- be aware of that it can be tough - you have to be quite strong both physically and socially.
- be an openminded person interested in sharing your thoughts and ideas with others
- have an active interest in environmental questions or other issues about the sea and coast and an approach to this in your work
- have at least some experience with boats and/or sailing and navigation
- be a contemporary artist or be working with or have deep knowledge of the Baltic Sea - environmental or other
- write to us a description of yourself and why you want to take part
- tell us if you have possibilities to get economical support for taking part in any way (it is not a demand)
- be an ambassador for your country onboard the boat and help us with contacts in the place you come from
We will ask you to look upon the journey as a residence and that you will be working with the project also after finishing the sail tour. Participants will get paid for taking part and working in the project, and will be invited to seminars and exhibitions. We expect all participants to deliver a result, on the basis of the idea of the project. The aim is to make people think and react on issues of different levels concerning the Baltic sea.
